OUR MISSION
The Sitka Homeless Coalition’s Mission is to promote safe, secure housing for all, and to strengthen support services in collaboration with a strong network of partners to build an overall culture of care, health, dignity, and belonging in our community.
Home. There is so much depth to this word. Having a home is more than just a structure. Home equals security. Home equals safety. Home helps a person to feel whole. Human. Contain a strong sense of self, connection to those around. Dignity and an ability to hold one’s head up with pride.
These are all traits that the Sitka Homeless Coalition would like to embody moving forward. The Board of Directors had a retreat in September to brainstorm the vision, mission, and goals for the coming year. The Sitka Homeless Coalition Board, staff, and volunteers prioritized drafting a fresh mission statement to capture not only how far we’ve grown, but also to inspire us to continue the strong, dedicated work needed on the path to creating not just spark of hope, but igniting a flame of possibilities and actual, tangible positive change for our special little town. Housing and access to services for all. Every. Single. Sitkan.
As Sitka Homeless Coalition Board Chair, I am proud to unveil our brand-new mission statement:

Thank you all for your continued support over the recent years. We could not do or be all that we are without the citizens of Sitka working together on such a worthy cause. Changing the world, life by life, human to human. We are only as strong as our weakest link. There is power in numbers. United we can make Sitka the best “Home” it can be, for all.

Hitx'i Saani Project
The Hítx'i Sáani Community is a permanent supportive housing project that will consist of 12 units and a services building. We are in the process of finalizing designs and securing funding to make this project a reality. It is expected that we will have units ready for residents by summer 2024! This project is essential for meeting the needs of the chronically homeless in Sitka. Thank you to all who have been a part of making the Hítx'i Sáani Community happen!
Our Resources
